JON DEAN

Oct or Nov 2008 Christmas Platter Class

About Jon Dean

Jon Dean has 25 years of experience working with and teaching ceramic arts.  He and his colleague Tim McPherson are Seeley Stoneware Educators and are part of the great team at Mayco Color (the company whose paints we use in the Studio).  One weekend may find him teaching in Orland, the next in London , England, then two weeks later in l’il ol’ Lexington, KY; and he is wildly popular at the CCSA (the paint your own pottery national association) Convention every year.  Jon not only brings a great deal of talent and creativity to his classes but loads of personality and fun.  He has claimed many prestigious design awards including “Most Innovative Design” from The Society of Glass and Ceramic Decorators, a worldwide organization that provides decorating professionals with a competitive edge.

He has an acute sense of current trends, techniques, and colors, which combine to make a fantastic learning experience for all.  He considers himself more of a “product magician than an artist” and enjoys the challenge of “using products in a very creative way by ‘breaking the rules’”.  The Mad Potter is ecstatic to welcome Jon Dean to our Studio and hopes everyone will come join in on the fun!

Previous Jon Dean Weekends

We  are celebrating the triumphant return of celebrated ceramic and glass artist Jon Dean to the Mad Potter! On Saturday August 16th Jon will be spending the day teaching YOU how to create head-turning fused glass pieces! We will start the day off  at 10am and work until we are finished. The workshop costs $65 and that covers all 3 projects (plus a possible surprise bonus project!) along with instruction and firings. Please call the store at 859-269-4591 or stop by to register or for more information. Seating is limited, so call early!

February 23rd and 24th   another fantastic weekend of creative arts!

Saturday's class (10-5) will be painting on pottery and Sunday's class (12-5) will be working with glass.  Fees will be $35 per day and the price of your pottery.  You do not have to do all of the projects and you can choose to do a smaller version of any project.  This is a must-do activity! Jon is charismatic, funny, and very, very talented.  Don't miss this great opportunity! No experience is needed, just enthusiasm! For more info or to sign up for the workshops call 859-269-4591 or email Erica!

Saturday Feb. 23rd- We will be offering the following project options-but remember that you may choose the bisque you want to use (Reminder: the designs will be easier to transfer if you choose a piece that has similar shape or size).

Sunday Feb 24th- We will be offering the following glass fusing project options. These projects are appropriate for any level of glass fusing experience. For beginners there is no better way to get acquainted with glass fusing than a class with Jon Dean. For the more advanced, Jon can help you take your projects to the next level creatively.
